Superwoman

…”Even when I’m a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I’m a Superwoman

For all the mothers fighting
For better days to come
And all my women, all my women sitting here trying
To come home before the sun…

…When I’m breaking down
And I can’t be found
And I start to get weak
Cause no one knows
Me underneath these clothes
But I can fly”

Supergirl-dc-comics-3975782-1024-768The funny thing about life is that sometimes it gives you surprises.  Just when you think you’ve gone through the toughest time of your life, a new challenge arises.  In between, you get that quiet lull, peaceful and happy.  Strong women surround me.  If you asked me where they get the strength, I couldn’t answer you but their tenacity astounds me.
I have two sisters.  One of them is very far away now and I don’t get to see her very often, but when we do get together we try to cram as many activities and TLC as possible!  My sister is an amazing woman.  She is more than a sister…more than a mother…more than a wife.  My sister constantly puts herself in the backseat while simultaneously being a chauffeur, a cook, a teacher, an administrator, a friend, a soccer mom, a cheerleader, a maid, a partner, and counselor.  This is just a small sampling of the hats that she wears.

I am in awe of her and what she is capable of doing.  To top it all off, she finds time to be an entrepreneur as well with Gizie’s $5 Treasures selling really nice jewelry for a great price!    My sister has the biggest heart of anyone I know.  She is selfless beyond imagination and I love her very much.  The best thing she’s ever done is given me the gift of two nephews that fill my heart with love.  It is awesome to see her become the awesome mom that she is.

A couple of weeks ago I was challenged by a friend to think of that one thing that fills my heart with happiness.  She said, “Hold on to that word.  Now open your eyes…”  She challenged me to share that word with the world and explain the meaning behind it and why it is so important to me.  My word was family.  Family is important to me because when everything else goes away, I will be OK because I have such a great family.  I have unbelievable support and I think sometimes people get lost in life and responsibilities and running around without realizing that they are neglecting the time needed to spend with family.

When I think of family, my sister is always there on my mind, in my thoughts.  I still remember when she was tiny, with her long straight dark hair and slanty eyes!  She’d follow me around everywhere and copy everything that I wanted to do.  Even though I’m older than her, she shows wisdom and common sense, so I call her my big little sister!  I am proud of the woman she has become.  She is my superwoman…
